Turning 50 – challenge!

I know that I said February was going to be a list of favorites. But I’m upping the game!

I’m turning 50 this year in April, and I’m in the best shape of my life…or close. I have exactly 2 months to go to actually hit the best shape of my life. This is my challenge, should I choose to accept it…hit it hard for 2 months!

Challenge accepted!

I want to work out more. I want to eat healthier. I want to put a dent in that elusive belly weight that won’t go away. I’m going to have to be diligent. I’m going to have to make sacrifices.

Here are some goals for the next two months to get there:

  • Drink more water. On a typical night, I might have a large Arnold Palmer, a Coke Zero and a Bubly + water. My intention is to cut that down to mostly water and maybe one special drink a night.
  • Eat healthier snacks. My nightly routine includes a bowl of chips or candy. I plan to reduce this by half. So 3 nights a week I have healthier snacks.
  • Run more. I’ve been mostly walking on the treadmill, with a long run on Sundays. I’m going to add 1 or 2 runs on weekdays.
  • Cross train. Alternatively, I’ll hit the elliptical or rower 1-2 times a week.
  • Weights. Pushups. Sit ups. Chin ups. Time to hit the core with some valuable extra work!
  • I’ll also continue to walk and stretch.

Phew! That’s a loaded 2 months. Am I setting myself up for failure? I hope not. I have a goal in mind and it’s not going to be easy. I’ve already surpassed the “easy” goal. I want to challenge myself.

I’ve never posted pics like this before. Not bad for 49…almost 50. My weight at the start of the month is 169.4 lbs. My goal is to lose another 5 lbs minimum and work on that belly a little and get a little more toned!

I’m pretty happy where I’m at with my body at 49. I’ve lost a lot of weight since January 2021 already. But I want to push myself a little more to see where I can get.

Thanks for supporting my blog and I look forward to your support as I strive for the best physical me over the next 2 months.

  1. Dennis I no longer drink any pop, eliminated it completely. Try healthy snacks forsure tasty rice cakes or vegtable chips,

Plus deom your pictures I see you could use a weekly power lift jus like you see in weight lifting competitions, will build thickness through your chest & back, strengthening your core….you’ll need a gym pass or a long weight bar an weights, start out very light like jus the bar 45 lbs then add week by week. If you have a gym membership then ask an attendant to let u use the Olympic set of weights, they may make you take a short class on proper use as those type of weights are often locked up because people I jure themselves with improper use or too much weight……the benefits are huge though…

.I’m goi g to the gym today an will be doing jus that same exercise an have similar goals as you physically thisyear with plans to start jogging once a week this month to enhance my stop smoking goal now over 30 days clean of cigarettes.

Best of luck with all your goals.iv jeffrey
