The frustration of being sick!

Every three or four years, in the spring, I get really sick. It is usually bronchitis that hits me hard and hangs around for weeks. The last time it happened, I ended up in emergency, and took short term leave from my job. It is not fun! I cough non-stop for weeks. My lungs are […]

Big Announcements

It’s end of October, and snowy weather has hit Edmonton. It’s been cold for a couple of weeks now. Outdoor golf is finished. Outdoor cycling is finished. I’m indoors working out. it’s time for hibernation season. As October comes to a close and we enter into early Winter, I have a couple of big announcements […]

Emotional month!

I’ve been working on my next blog for a couple of weeks. I don’t have writer’s block but I’m having difficulty organizing my thoughts into a blog worth sharing. I’m writing, just not in my blog. I’m looking into a couple of writing gigs and that has me excited. I’ve been writing my experiences and […]

Another milestone

Last July, I volunteered for the final of the PTO Canadian Open. It’s a triathlon event and at the time, I was struggling with a toe injury that prevented me from running long distances all summer. I was rehabbing my toe and slowly working my way back to running 10 minutes at a time…safely up […]

A mid-midlife crisis

I’ve been in a midlife crisis for the last couple of years since I made the choice to be sober. I feel like I’m in the middle of a midlife crisis during my midlife crisis. I don’t love the word crisis so let’s just say I’m going thru a lot of self evaluation. I guess […]

I am the tree. The tree is me.

I did some front yard maintenance this year and that included cleaning up our front yard and planting a new plum tree. My research suggested that it was best to leave the tree to grow on its own rather than tether it to support. However, it’s been a very windy spring in Edmonton. Still, the […]

Windy Days

I’m going thru some windy days both figuratively and literally.

This topic came up in my last therapy session. I was talking about all of the windy days that I’m golfing thru and cycling thru. The wind has been gusting this spring from 30-50 km/hr. It’s been super windy. And I’m getting a little tired of it.

Hockey vs. Soccer – ChatGPT

Canada qualified for the Fifa World Championships 2022, and so I watched some soccer. I learned a few things. It’s impossible to watch a sport without comparing it to your favorite sport, so here are some things I noticed about hockey vs. soccer and started a blog post with some thoughts late last year…these are […]

next shot.

I’ve been clean and sober since December 18, 2020. It’s long enough that I’m losing track of how long I’ve been clean. I still feel great. I love mocktails and have started to enjoy the occasional alcohol-free beer. I’ve been thinking about getting a tattoo to celebrate my decision to be sober. Sobriety tattoos should […]

The winter blues

I’m stuck in a holding pattern. Although spring has hit, it’s not quite spring weather. Winter is still here and the temperatures are still on the cool side. There’s been plenty of sun this winter which I’m thankful for. But I can’t lose this feeling that I’m just hanging on to survive another winter. Maybe […]
